Support Coach Wong

The Provo School District has recently placed Timpview's football head coach, Louis Wong, on a 30 day suspension without pay with plans to terminate the coach by the end of the period. The Provo School District has made this decision based on numerous accounting reports within Timpview High School. When it comes to explaining the reasoning for such a harsh punishment, the Provo School District refuses to talk. Hundreds of supporters recently showed up to support the coach, but the district only allowed citizens to talk for 30 minutes, and stated the school board won't answer direct questions. Is it ethical to fire an employee for something they weren't properly trained on? Communities agree that Coach Wong handled the finances the way he was taught, and the way many other coaches in the state do. Coach Wong nor any coach in The Provo School District has ever received training or guidelines for such areas. The school district is refusing to accept responsibility, and will be terminating a great coach to cover up their own flaws.  Despite answering every accusation from the district and drawing huge crowds of support, Coach Wong is headed towards termination because of lack of training from the district. This is our chance to show our support for a much loved coach, and to send a message to the school district.

Whether you are a fan of Timpview High School or can't even stand to see their logo, every fan knows Coach Wong is well known for his success on the football field. Coach Wong has helped build a very powerful football program at Timpview, and has built amazing facilities for his students to enjoy. Coach Wong is known for raising the bar in high school sports, which is why high school sports in Utah is slowly being more nationally recognized. Coach Wong's success is a clear reason why he is being targeted. If these "accounting issues" are happening outside of the football program as well, why is only Coach Wong being punished? It's not fair to see somebody lose their job over lack of training and guidelines. By losing Coach Wong, the entire state takes a hit. We lose a coach who has not only changed the lives of those he's coached, but changed the way Utah high school football is viewed today. By allowing Coach Wong to lose his job, we are also agreeing that state officials shouldn't have to answer to their communities, and that government offices should not be transparent. We can change that.

They need to know without any doubt that we as a Utah high school sports community believe in Coach Wong, and we have a right to be heard.
